Ivan Surkoš, Mr. Richard Dictus, and representatives from the following embassies: UK, Greece, Cyprus, and Estonia
went on a field visit to see the project’s developments by attending an MRE session in El Alamein Preparatory and Secondary School, visited the Military Field Battalion to see a live demonstration on the demining process, and finally headed to Matruh for the artificial limbs center.
This year, we are celebrating 75 Years: From Landmines to Development with the presence of Ambassador Ivan Surkoš, Head of European Union Delegation to Egypt, and Mr. Richard Dictus, the United Nations Development Programme Resident Representative and the following embassies UK, Spain, New Zealand, Estonia, Greece, Cyprus, Croatia, and Estonia in Al Alamien and Matrouh. The EU works in partnership with the UNDP and the Executive Secretariat on the project’s pillars to support humanitarian demining and development.
“Seeking Better Civic Advocacy” is a conference in Matruh for all civic actors in the North West Coast. The aim of this conference is to highlight the importance of spreading awareness on mine risks among influential figures and opinion leaders within the local community. The Executive Secretariat is advocating that each person has an active role in society to raise awareness on the threats of mines.
